Alexander was born on October 4th, 1867 in Portland Villa, North Leith.1  Alexander's father was Andrew Leslie Wallace and his mother was Christina Cochrane Cook.  His paternal grandparents were James Wallace and Mary Nicholson; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Cook and Ann Gilray. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Thomas, Jessie and Agnes.  He died due to a medical problem, Enteric Fever (typhoid) 11 days and Cardiac Failure, at the age of 26 on March 31st, 1894 in William Street, Boness, Linlithgow, Scotland.2
