Euphemia was born in 1837 in Stirling, Scotland.1   Euphemia's father was Alexander Mouat and her mother was Janet  Cunningham Sommers.  Her paternal grandparents were Archibald Mowat and Jean Grey; her maternal grandparents were Rev John Sommers and Janet McDonald. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Archibald, John, Alexander, George, Eliza, Ina, Mary, Margaret and Janet.  She was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 71 in 1908 in England.
