Jean's father was John Birrell Lumsden and her mother was Janet McCallum.  Her paternal grandparents were David Lumsden and Jean Arnot; her maternal grandparents were John McCallum and Christina McDonald. She had two brothers and a sister, named David, James and Christina.  She was the second youngest of the four children.

• Death Notes

  On John Lawson's Marriage certificate of 1920 her name is still Lumsden and she is deceased.  She would have been 50 years old.

• General Notes

  She had an illigitimate child. 
  Supposition - she was not allowed to marry the father as he was only a farm labourer.
  Assumption - the father of her child was named Lawson from Newburgh as this is the first mention of that name in the family.

  Census 1891: East Forret Farm House, Logie - 21 years
  Residence 1893: Craigmill, Newburgh, Fife.  Outdoor Worker Her son John was born when she was 23 yrs old.
  1901 Census she was not living at Craigmill with her parents but her son John Lawson aged 8 was.  She would have been 31 years old, where was she between 1893-1901.
