William Blair was born on December 15th, 1856 in East Port, Newburgh, Fife, Scotland.1  William Blair's father was John Ferguson and his mother was Margaret Baillie.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Ferguson and Elizabeth Hall; his maternal grandparents were David Bailie and Jane Menzies. He had three brothers and a sister, named Robert, David, John and Jane.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, Pneumonia, at the age of 42 on November 3rd, 1899 in 8 High Street, Newburgh.2
