William Drysdale 
William was born on October 21st, 1796. William's father was David Drysdale and his mother was Jean Dempster. His paternal grandparents were William Drysdale and Euphan Tower; his maternal grandparents were William Dempster and <Unknown>. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Laurence, David, Euphemia, Elizabeth, Jean, Margaret, Agnes, Isobel and Mary. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 75 on March 23rd, 1872 in Alva.General Notes

In 1859 it was recorded on his daughte Jessie's marriage certificate that he was a farmer.
In 1913 it was recorded on his daughter Jessies death certificate that he was a Woollen Manufacturer.
'Sidelights on Alva History' page 9 - "Early in the 19th century William Drysdale & Co erected a spinning mill and waulk mill on the site which is now the Masonic Hall". I do not think this my William?
Sidelights on Alva History page 16..."William Drysdale in 1869 became Sanitary Inspector. Inspector Drysdale who had a lively interest in the poor and in Alva history (giving lectures on Alva) died in 1896.(See photo of gravestone, married to Isabella Brown)
