Euphemia was born on January 5th, 1839 in Parish of Alva and her baptism was conducted by Reverend Andrew Brown Minister of the Parish.1   Euphemia's father was William Drysdale and her mother was Janet Archibald.  Her paternal grandparents were David Drysdale and Jean Dempster. She had a brother and four sisters, named William, Jane Dempster, Janet , Mary and Margaret.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
